WANA (Apr 01) – Iran’s Foreign Minister has given a preliminary approval to a request by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit Tehran, emphasizing that the agency “must take a clear stance regarding threats against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.”

On Tuesday, IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi held a phone conversation with Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, to discuss the latest developments in cooperation between Iran and the agency.

During the call, Araqchi briefed Grossi on recent diplomatic negotiations and developments concerning Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to engagement with the IAEA but stressed that the agency must adopt a transparent position on threats to Iran’s nuclear sites.

“Given the persistence of these threats, the Islamic Republic of Iran will take all necessary measures to safeguard its nuclear program,” Araqchi asserted.

Grossi, in response, stated that he would consult with other parties to create a suitable environment for resolving outstanding issues.

As part of this effort, he formally requested a visit to Iran, a proposal that received Araqchi’s conditional approval. It was agreed that the details of the visit would be finalized through appropriate diplomatic channels to ensure its success.
